The following is a review for 500 Days of Summer (2009).
Everyone loves summer. It's a time for friends, family, and fun. Am I missing something? Oh yes, love. Summer is a time for love.
Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel have great chemistry together and give solid performances. They have a believable relationship and we understand their hardships. The film makes you notice the little things in relationships, the things most other films leave out.
The story goes back and forth highlighting different days during their relationship. Throughout this journey, we see all kinds of days... the good, the bad, the inbetween. Big props to the editing department for highlighting this.
500 Days of Summer is really refreshing now a days. It's funny, unique, and true to life. It's got something everyone can like. The film shows the good and the bad of love, relationships, and life.
In a genre that has become increasingly stale, 500 Days of Summer is a rare gem that stands out among the rest.
(8.5/10)
